I am thinking about a monthly news letter about happenings here at Tegu Terra. Tegu health and care, new ideas and the new features to Tegu Terra that are going to be added. Johnny has one of the best Tegu breeding and care facilities on the planet. We have plans to make it better with technology that will further enhance the quality of life for the Tegu's.

As well as being Moderator I am an Mechanical Engineer who works in energy conversion and self sufficient homes and habitats. Johnny is well gifted and we bounce stuff off each other all the time. As things manifest they will be in the news letter.

Being a techy if I wrote this it would be boring without your input as what you would like to read. So I am asking all of you to post any ideas to help me make it a fun and informative read.

I am gifted in many things, including composing professional writing (not typing). I can write very well, and could hand write pages of articles on tegu related subjects and have someone type them for the newsletter. Having 26 years go by fully immersed in biology/breeding before I began knowing the tegu was something so life changing, the past 4 were flooded with knowledge of not only the tegu, but all life, my own included. Having gained so much in such a short period of time affords me the viewpoint of both a beginner and an experienced teguhead. I went almost three years as a tegu owner before meeting Johnny, the first fellow tegu owner I met, first by choice, then by coincidence. Being so experienced in keeping and breeding other species, I was amazed that the tegu was basically unknown to me until 2008. This made me want to learn the species on my own, without being biased by expectations from reading about what other owners had to say until I had an adult. Learning so much watching my little girl grow up, I decided I would gain much more knowledge starting a breeding program. My next tegu was a blue, then a few months later I saw the majestic in reptiles magazine and did as I normally do when a fellow animal or plant breeder has a breakthrough; contact them to let them know that I appreciate and know the time and effort it took, as it took myself @20 years selective breeding to have similar success with an animal species. I thought I was into tegus before, getting more and more excited about them every day, but after talking to Johnny, I wake tegu, live tegu, dream tegu, then start over somehow craving more. I am amazed and grateful for the gift of the tegu, and would like to return the favor by helping with the newsletter. I think the story of how Tegu Terra came to be is very interesting. Being the time of year when many are becoming first time tegu owners, an article on basic tegu care would be helpful, as well as one regarding brumation. Many do not understand torpor at all, and many who do still subject specimens to unnecessary stress, as I did my first 2 years. I know that many have animals out there now that they think are in hibernation, but are actually in stupor from lack of vitamin D. Subsequent newsletters could follow the same theme: an article or two on Tegu Terra and some on seasonal subjects, biology, etc.

Thank you. The story about Tegu Terra is a great story and will show that Johnny is the man. Each of your points will be addressed with emphasis on Tegu health issues a regular column.

Another thing is an article that informs readers about the behavior of Tegus as the seasons change and as they grow.

For laughs have people send in "Stupid Tegu Tricks". If someone can post a vid showing a Tegu make coffee I want to see it.

Another program for Johnny I want to start is having Tegu Terra members become part of the Clan of the Tegu. It can be set up to have fun and get us all more involved helping others with Tegus no matter where they got them.

Thank you for your post, it has helped me with the outline a great deal. I will love to work with you on this.

Earl

Josh, the way to post pics is to send them to me and I will get them on there. I don't allow pics unless they are approved by me..
